Escape to Nature
Smilin Thru Resort

This is what you can expect at Smilin Thru Resort

We are proudly a 2 star self catering budget resort, the resort appeals to the outdoor enthusiasts, with lots of outdoor activities. The resort is situated on a 428ha working farm and you will find animals roaming about. We have horses, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks and ostriches which roam freely. We also have a petting zoo and a reptile room for the smaller kids.

The road into the resort is 1km of gravel road, the road gets scrapped twice a year and is fairly smooth. Your low rider Ferrari may have a problem coming into the resort.

Reception is located at the Hotel Area and all enquiries can be attended to here.

The resort is 50 years old and in need of a facelift, since taking over officially from 1 February 2019, we are in the process of attending to these snags. If you have an issue let reception know and we will get our team on it, often you as the guest would see a problem before our team. Although the resort is old, it is the natural beauty and escape to nature that keep our regular guests coming back.

Onsite, we have 3 pools, Hotel pool, Main Pool and Kiddies Pool. At this stage none of our pools are heated. We have a bar and restaurant on site but closes during the winter months and opens again during the summer months.

We have the following activities onsite:

Horse Riding

Fishing and Fly Fishing (home of the black carp)

Foofie Slide

River Tubes

River Slide

Putt-Putt (old course)

Jungle Gym (also quite old)

Volleyball Court

Walking and Running Trails (Although the animals are always knocking over the sign boards)

The self catering units are basic with all appliances, 2 plate stove, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and fridge. The units have basic bedding, but in winter we recommend you bring along an extra blanket or someone to keep you warm. If still cold enquire at reception for an extra blanket. We have commenced with a replacement of mattresses, but still working on it.

Our regular guests enjoy the break, the natural beauty, a lekker braai with something colder and lekker geselskap.
